Stewart’s career has spanned both professional soccer in his early career path, whilst developing his entire business life in the Specialty Chemicals field in Australia and Asia. Stewart puts his success down to hard work, team work, having good mentors, finding and developing good people and leading from the front.
In his teens, Stewart was contracted to professional soccer clubs in Edinburgh, Scotland, which led to him being bought and transferred first to a New Zealand and later to a Melbourne-based professional soccer team.
It was at this time Stewart started his ladder-climbing in the corporate world with a Unilever subsidiary and some 13 years later was headhunted to join a Global Specialty Chemical business that would be acquired by TOTAL of France. It was in this phase of his business life development, that Stewart learned how to apply his sporting team skills to a business environment, focusing primarily on people development in the Asia region.
As specialist in business development, he climbed the ladder in 2 Global MNC’s in the mature Australia market and spent four years in Singapore for a leading French Petrochemical company. After four additional years in China, building plants and developing the skillsets of local executive teams, Stewart returned to Australia, where he continued to manage the successfully developed Asian Units.
Stewart maintained his involvement in sport, holding coaching positions in Singapore, while he also had stints as television commentator for Australian Soccer.
His business career, put simply, served two of the great Global Specialty Chemical MNC’s and on his retirement Stewart was enticed to consult with a Taiwanese Specialty Chemical company.
Stewart holds a Graduate Degree in Marketing from RMIT Melbourne and graduated in Business Development & Management from the Paris-based TOTAL University.
